It ain't easy...
to remember how to feel
after so many years pretending
you forget what it feels like
to laugh, really laugh
or cry, and really cry, or even why
you made yourself forget and not see the bad things inside.
you passed it around,
put it out there like your dirty laundry,
but of course pretended again, no one could see it
that made you feel safe,
made you feel strong, always pretending there...

The cleansing...
It’s a theme this year already. This topic was brought up to me in a round-a-bout way yesterday. But it’s something that definitely holds merit, at least as far as I’m concerned.
Let me back-track a bit if I may. Some people regard the year 2012 as some huge, cataclysmic event that will take place. Perhaps end of days, Armegeddon, etc. Some other people (myself included)...

love
so I am of the full belief that the people in our lives are here for a reason, whether it be to teach us something or whether we reciprocate knowledge imparted on us by someone before them. I have a few special friends that I KNOW are in my life for that reason.
We always have very candid and lovely long discussions about the universe, physics, politics, psychology, poetry, sound, music and the...

theme for today...
Patience. that’s what I’m struggling for today. Perhaps it’s because it’s nearing the end of a holiday week & I don’t want to be at work? Perhaps it’s because it’s too close to “my time” and I am feeling emotionally vulnerable and not stable. Aaggh! Sometimes it sucks being a woman- well, besides the whole we can’t pee while...
not sure?
Brokedown palace,
my how this place has changed
all red faced and sullen
looking around all dazed
Take back your papers
don’t throw them away
recycle them into scratch
they used you that way
Long eyes, don’t look down, don’t close them now
Long eyes, you are better than that, better than…

move swiftly by
ragged old sweaters

An Ode to Loneliness...
Inspired by the Lonely Hearts Club, those who cannot find the will to share…
A moonlit night
So high in the sky
Hangs down from above
Like a lonely light
In a one room loft
She sits down
Kicks her shoes off
Breathes deeply, intent
Before she drifts off
It doesn’t hurt that bad
She says to herself
Though it’s not how I dreamed it would...

I've been lost lately...
in a series of books that I cannot crawl out of yet. it’s a strange kind of feeling, almost a desired helplessness. it’s just these books are so fucking good, they’ve pulled me in. i feel like I’m literally in there.
anyway, it’ll be good to finish and I can feel myself again. this feeling isn’t bad, on the contrary, it’s exhilerating, but a bit...
Saturday night, chill session...
it’s been a pretty great day so far- woke up, ate some eggs & grits, cup o’coffee with my loves. Went to an estate auction (kind of sad to see someones entire life up to sale) didn’t bid on anything- but they did have a very cool little banjolin (sounded like the one Jerry used on “Stealin” on Shady Grove)= awesome. Also a crazy little Gretsch kids banjo (über...

This day in history...
What will they write? Here’s what I hope it looks like:
November 4, 2008 was the beginning of a cultural and evolutionary change in American society. Barack Obama was elected the very first African-American President of the United States of America. He won this election based on his campaign of hope and unity and peace and change. This ushered an unprecedented time of harmony among the...

first, let me say I am doing this from my phone- so I apologize in advance for any bad spelling or words that don’t make sense…
That said, what an amazing time it is that we are living. I feel very strongly that we are about to see the first black man to elected president. I’m not sure (being from the South, and all) I ever thought I’d see this. What’s more-...

Playing for Change →
AMAZING! This says it all. Everything I believe to be true is held in this clip about an amazing documentary film called “Playing for Change” by film-maker Mark Johnson.
Today I pray for
Love and peace and truth and a light that shines on all of the world…
also, it would be great if my Cardinology vinyl were at my house when I get home ;-)
but mostly, love and peace and truth and a light that shines on all of the world.
Oh Grandma...
I was going to offer her a ride to go and early vote. Then she says to me, “Well honey, that’s sweet, but I just sent in my absentee ballot”. So I ask the inevitably depressing question, “So, who’d you vote for?”. “Well, your not gonna like it”, she says. Oh Damn! She was swindled into voting for McCain based on the Rovian fear tactics that got...
An Open Apology to Cardinals, CardinalFam & Fans
Dear Ryan,
Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I don’t know you, obviously, but I feel like I do sometimes & I can certainly relate to your feelings of defeat over yourself. I’m sure anyone can at some point in their lives. But this is a constant struggle of mine as well, and perhaps the reason I feel so drawn to your music & lyrics (yours & the Cardinals). I find it...
it really sucks to be sick...
I know that a lot of people were totally bummed about the Cardinals show last night in atlanta. The dipshits we had the unfortunate pleasure of shuttling back to the hotel with were pretty pissed (in more ways than one). But at any rate, I’m going to just say that as a musician, I can totally understand being sick and not being able to give everything you have.
Atlanta...
You guys sounded amazing last night- I’m sorry Ryan, you’re not feeling well. Seems like you guys need a break, some good rest & tea & soup. Take care of yourselves. Can’t wait for the record- and maybe another Atlanta show??

Cardinals, my totem animal?
Okay, so it may sound very silly, mystic, pagan-loving to someone, but for me, I totally believe in the idea of animals as messengers, spirit guides if you will. I catch on and become aware of animals energies, especially if I see them more than once or twice in a short time period, then I feel like, OK, your trying to tell me something, I’m listening.
For a long time I have been...
