it’s history…

first, let me say I am doing this from my phone- so I apologize in advance for any bad spelling or words that don’t make sense…

That said, what an amazing time it is that we are living. I feel very strongly that we are about to see the first black man to elected president. I’m not sure (being from the South, and all) I ever thought I’d see this. What’s more- he’s someone who is extremely qualified & and has made a point that his campaign bring nothing but dignity to the table. I am truly inspired by him and what he stands for. Being involved with this campaign has made me feel proud to be an American and has taught me that you really do have to fight, persevere, and stand up to those people who try to hold you down. I’m really proud of anyone who took a part in it, no matter how small.

Thursday night we had a jam for Barack at Lake Ella, which is Tallahassee’s equivilant to NYC’s Central Park, though much smaller. But it’s a place where so much happens- walkers, farmer’s market, coffee shop, Legion Hall, kick-ass ancient oak tree that I climbed on as a child- now my daughter does. Well- the vibe at the jam was just palpable & exhilerating. Sure we didn’t convert many people, but oh the energy we put out there! Musicians of every level, skill, instrument came out & circled the lake and played for change as people walked by or stopped to listen. It was so cool.
I have already cast my ballot- early voting ended today- some 40,000 people voted in Leon county voted early- which is pretty amaIng considering there are probably only 200,000 people in this county (maybe more).

Listening to Bird Song as I write this- Jerry’s voice is so kind and it’s really a complimentary song to hear as I write this.

Anyway- if anyone out there reading this has not voted yet (and it’s not too late) please cast your vote for decent, calm (not reactionary) man who will ensure that our county ALWAYS uses diplomacy first and is just really freaking smart. Please vote for hope and peace and change. Thank you & peace to you all. KG
