This day in history…
What will they write? Here’s what I hope it looks like:
November 4, 2008 was the beginning of a cultural and evolutionary change in American society. Barack Obama was elected the very first African-American President of the United States of America. He won this election based on his campaign of hope and unity and peace and change. This ushered an unprecedented time of harmony among the american people and it’s political system. Americans, who had been riddled for decades with divisive partisan politics, were affected so profoundly by Mr. Obama’s message of change, and this time can be defined as a new revolution in America.
It was revolutionary because the American people were reminded of the ideals and principles upon which their great country was founded. Not because one man stood up for liberty and justice, but because MANY came together as one nation and made their stand. The Obama administration ushered in hope and the ideals that carried this new revolution through for many years to come. So that the generation who elected President Obama taught their children about hope and love and unity and that to make a change in the world you must: 1) lead by example, 2) take responsibilty for actions and your future and 3) not accept anything less than what is right and good.
In fact, this country which was once called the “greatest country on earth” would indeed rise to this definition and culturally evolving by honoring all that was good about humanity and finding common ground among each other to come together. This was indeed a golden era in America’s history.
Okay…so I’m an optimist (I know this) and a total idealist, but hey, it’s a good day! I’m feeling extra sunny and just want to spread it around! Love & Peace to all! kg
